Default Fuel Vent Canister trouble

I have a 2000 v6 mustang and it has trouble pumping fuel. The tank always acts like it is full. I had a knowledgeable mechanic look at it and he told me that fuel got into the evaporated fuel vent system. I'm looking for a way to trouble shoot this and can't find anything on the topic. I'm not looking for "turn the nozzle sideways" or "replace the fuel tank". I'm looking for something more along the lines of how to purge it or what parts need to be replaced. Thanks.

Hi,

Is the CEL on? You may have several issues such as with the canister purge control solenoid or with the anti-spit back valve that is located at the bottom of the filler neck (if your Mustang has one that is).

Do you have access to a OBD2 Scan Tool than can activate the emission purge control solenoid to see if its functioning correctly?

Hope this helps somewhat.

My 2002 Vic was doing that. On the Vic there was a black box behind the gas tank that stored the charcoal canister and one of the valves (I believe purge). There was another valve under the hood on the passenger side. I ordered all 3 from Rock Auto. The one under the hood probably didnt need replaced seeing as when I replaced the valve & canister near the gas tank it fixed the problem. I just didnt want to have to deal with anything else so I did it all at the same time. They were pretty easy to replace.
