95 Convertible does not go up ???
I have a 1995 Ford Mustang GT covertible. The top goes down, but it does not go up. Does the motor just wear out and is not able to bring it back up? Does the convertible motor need to be replaced and if so, does anyone know how expensive this is, and how big of a job it is?
Thank you
Tony

I had the same problem in my 95 GT and it was in the motor that raises the top. You should get it fix soon because raising the top your self can wear out the gears, at least this is what I was told by my mechanic because I found out that it wouldn't go up after it was already down and had to manually raise it, also. It'll take a couple hundred bucks depending on the severity of the problem. Sorry, I can't really remember the exact amount.

My car dealer knew a mechanic who knew Mustang convertible motors well.
To put it up manually, just grab it and pull it up. It's really hard to pull but with a little work, you can get it up. Better than leaving it down, in my opinion!

Would it be a good idea to have somebody push the button that is normally used to put the top up? This way you aren't really forcing the top.
I would think that just pulling the top would hurt whatever is left of the mechanism.

I tried having the switch held while manually raising the roof, it did not do anything.
But today we removed the switch to see if maybe it was just a bad contact in the switch, and sure enough it was, we just removed the switch opened the switch, put it back together and the roof works fine, got lucky I guess.
