Smile no fuel pressure

I've got a '99 mustang and the car has been sitting for about a month. I tried to start it yesterday and there isn't any fuel pressure (I checked it at the fuel rail). I guess it's the fuel pump or is there some kind of sensor telling the computer that there is already pressure in the lines . My question is: how hard is it to remove the fuel tank as it looks like there is some kind of 'HARD" piping @ the forward end of the tank. P.S. the fuze is O.K. thanks

Before you go to that trouble, change the fuel filter. Since it's been sitting that long it could have a bunch of gummed up crap in it. It may not solve your problem but it's a hell of a lot easier than dropping your tank and technically you should replace the filter when you replace the pump anyway so you really wouldn't be out anything if it doesn't cure the problem.

I did that yesterday and still the same. I'm wondering if there isn't some sensor that went bad or maybe the pressure regulator.

Hi,

Does the fuel pump prime the system?

Did you check the fuel pump relay? What about using a test light and seeing if you have power going to the pump? Also, if the ECU doesnt receive a tach signal it wont power up the pump on most vehicles.

Also, is the CEL on?

It likely isn't the regulator. When the regulator fails, 99% of the time it goes rich because of the way they are designed. It could be the relay or ECU as was said above but unless you were having problems with it before you parked it, it's likely the pump.
