Default Stalling

I have a '66 Mustang with a 2barrel 289 automatic. In park i have no trouble revving the engine. However, when put in drive and if i press the throttle and quickly let off my car stalls. There are no gasket leaks, however, im blowing smoke out of the breather meaning my rings aren't in great shape. Does this have anything to do with stalling or is it something else? This gives me a lot of trouble in an emergency situation.

Thank you.

When you punch the gas does black smoke come out of the tail pipe? Or if you go to WOT and stay in it does the car fall on it's face and then go? And how much smoke is coming out of the breather, and are you running a PCV system?

Best trap 107.11mph, we'll see what the new intake/carb setup does.

No black smoke the car runs good besides the rings. Its smoke quite a bit from the breather but now that i think of it the car did stall before the rings problem. I am running a PCV system on the passenger side but the driver side vavle cover has a breather.

Is it only if you let off quickly, or does it bog when you stay in the throttle as well?

The car runs great. It's only when i press the gas and quikly let off right away. It only happens in drive not in neutral or park.

Are you sure your idle is set correctly?

Sounds like you need a carb rebuild. It's easy to get a carb to run good in park or neutral. The hard park is keeping a good balance in drive or reverse.
