greetings, i have a 95 5.0 5 speed. i've learned that instead of cold air intake, i can just put in k&n filter inplace of o.e.m. filter and take silencer off and it will be same as c.a.i

Yep it's true. In some cases doing that is actually better for performace than adding a full CAI kit, as many kits are really cheap, leak air, & can fall apart. Also kits using a metal tube might look neat-o but can actually cause intake air to heat up because of heat transfer thru the metal tube..
The silencer is the the mesh screen infront of the MAF. You can just add a good filter to the OEM intake, take the screen out and save yourself the $70 or so dollars you would spend for a full on CAI.

NO! On NewEdge stangs the silencer is that cone shaped tube that juts into the side fender from the side of the air cleaner housing. It's NOT the screen in front of the MAF.
The silencers job is to quiet down the intake air sound. Unfortunately it also really restricts the intake airflow, and besides a REAL car lover LIKES the air intake moan sound!

In many cars that MAF screen has a heated wire that is part of the proper functioning of the MAF. Removing it will screw everything up. Think long and hard before removing parts that a highly educated automotive engineer put there.
