Need a little advice
Hello all,
I have a problem with oil pressure on my 86 V6 Stang. When driving around town it holds good pressure(according to the gauge). The problem is when I drive on the highway the car seems to surge on the rpm gauge, it fluctuates about 500rpms. I am thinking it need a carb adjustment. The car is supposed to have a new motor in it, but may not be tuned perfectly. Could that be the surging problem? The other problem is the one I am most concerned about. When I came off the highway the car felt like it wanted to stall when sitting at the off ramp light and also every light on the way home. Then I noticed the oil pressure started dropping towards the low mark on the gauge. When I started moving it would only go to the O in NORMAL on the gauge. When I started it the next day it the gauge reads about halfway in oil pressure. What could be the cause of this seeing it's supposed to have a new motor in it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Need a little advice
Well as for the surging problem that could be a numerous amont of things"carb, ignition, fuel problem"but as for the oil pressure it could just be a bad sending unit and only way to really tell it hook up a mechanical guage and see exactly what to oil pressure is,unless you just want to replace the sending unit and see if that helps.

I was thinking carb adjustment because when I reved it up today, I got the nice black crap coming from the tailpipe. As for the sending unit I will just replace it and see what happens. I just bought this car Friday also so I may just contact the dealer, I got it from tommorrow.

RE: Need a little advice
Mustang is all fixed and running great. It ended up being the pick up coil in the distributer. Thanks for the advice. I just decided to change the whole distro and ignition module, was much easier than taking the old distro apart.
