Question 92 lx transmision problem

hi i have a 92 lx 5 l 5 spd...im having a bit of an isue with my transmision when the car is cold it is very hard to put it in to gear and once it worms up the gears go in easyer,(still not as easey as my wifes civic) it does this in all gears any ideas on what could be my problem? the cluch is ferly new it is a king cobra cluch .

When it is finally warmed up. How far up off the carpet is the pedal when the clutch starts to engage?

the cluch grabs the same when it s cold and when it warmes up about 1/4 of the way up ther is no sliping of any kind ......ther was an aftermarket short throw shifter instaled before i got the car mabe thats my problem???

The clutch should engage about 1/2 way up. 1/4 is not too bad either but it's a bit on the loose side which mean it also may not be disengaging fully. I clutch that is not fully disengaged will make slipping it into gear require more effort, along with a short shifter. Cold will amplify this problem.

Like I said, 1/4 way up is not incorrect, just in the direction of too loose of a cable.
The easiest thing to try before you rip anything apart is to tighten the cable and see if the problem gets better.

Automatic transmission fluid. Yes, automatic transmission fluid is the correct oil for your manual transmission.

what is the corect fluid to use dextron 3 and how much should you use in stock trany.....
