Dash/Gauges

Dash/Gauges
I put white face gauges in my 89 and it was a son of a bitch to do. Took me about 4 hours, partially because I wasn't sure if I could take the dash that goes around gauges off, because it has like the lights switch, hazard lights n so on, I can take it off just I'm wondering about taking the switches out because I didn't wnat to **** anything up. Can I take these off/out to put the other gauges in? Because these one are inaccurate for speed. How do I get each of the light clips(or is it just wires) off/out? It'd be really helpful if I could because It would cut about 3 hours of work I think. In the pic I have the stock gauges still in but arrows pointing to what I'm talking about.

RE: Dash/Gauges
dude the only part you have to remove is the clear plastic panel should be 2 bolts upthere on the top holding that part in.
then you got more bolts to remove after that around the plastic panel and the whole thing comes out ( unplug it)
it only took 30 minutes to instal my indiglo white face gauges.
why are you having so much trouble? lol

RE: Dash/Gauges
I did this on my car a while ago. I agree its a bear.
I took off the black panel under the steering column, then the grey one that fits over it. That opened up the bottom 2 screws.
I took them off, and the 2 at the top, and freed up the whole black guage cover with the head light switches. I had to do alot of manuvering to get the black thing forward and then pulled the electrical connectors from the switches, which was really hard. Those headlight switches are supposed to pop out from the front, so you can pull off the electrical connectors and avoid having to do all that body bending. I couldnt get them to release. you also get a bit more room if you tilt the steering wheel down all the way.
Once you get that stupid black cover that has the headlght switches, its 2 bolts to remove the plastic covering the needles and you're there.
Be careful with that screwdriver, i put a scrape on my speedo, and now i have to look at it forever
