Default 1V carburetor rebuild

I'm going to be rebuilding the original 1V Ford carburetor on my early 65 with a 6 cylinder 170 ci. engine. I ordered the kit, bit I'd like to get an idea of how long this will take and difficulty level from someone who has done it and also if any special tools are required so I can get them before I start. I have a general repair manual, but if there are any good write-ups or books, I would appreciate that information if anyone has it. Thanks in advance. I'm very appreciative of the excellent help available on this forum. Great people!

Regards,

Gregg

Is this your first carb rebuild? If you have all the necessary tools and "good" instructions you should be able to do it in a few hours. Unless you need to soak parts overnight in solvent to remove gum & varnish on them.

Thnaks for the info. This will be my second carburetor rebuild, although the last one I did was 20 years ago on a 1960 triump (2 carburetors). Do you know what special tools are needed?

The repair manual should list what tools you need.. make sure you got stuff to clean all the parts too, I've found toothbrushes work ok for scrubbing pieces clean.
