Give or take that is. I dont know if this belongs here. I apologize if it doesnt.
Im looking at V6 and V8 Mustangs and Im trying to get an idea on gas mileage. Is there that big of a difference between the two engines ? Thanks for any help.

My 3.8L V6 is supposed to get 30 mpg on the highway. And I think there is a kinda big difference between V8 and V6. Plus insurance is a lot more on a V8.

Sticker is something like 18 city and 24 highway. I average about 20 mpg If I'm drivin' from AZ to San Diego though cruising at 80 I get about 22mpg.. Never gotten 24mpg though.

It also depends on how you drive. I can get as little as 16 if I drive like I stole it at every light or there's traffic on the freeway and I keep it in 4th.

Insurance is the biggest difference for cost of ownership.

i get 30mpg on the hwy. with my V6
city driving well thats a different story..lol
i noticed with my CAI i did gain a little better mileage.

Anywhere from 20-26 mpg in my 4.6 V8. Just depends on what kind of mood I'm in. [sm=badbadbad.gif]-[sm=grinangel.gif]

2004 GT (V8) manual: Rated at 21 MPG highway I think, and I got 21 MPG average highway on a 1500 mile trip.

15 gallon tank doesn't last me 300 miles most of the time, so average 18-19 for the rest of my driving.

Also, 92-93 octane fuel if it makes any difference.

I have a 2000 V6 automatic and depending on my driving depends on what I get. On the highway I get anywhere from 20-28 and in the city I get anywhere from 18-24. Hope this helps you.

I live in a rural area so a lot of my driving is mixed highway/city/backroads. I get btwn 23 and 24 mpg. I used to get no more than 22 with the same type of driving prior to my underdrive pulleys.

I would have to say if you need to ask about mileage, then you might not want a mustang....There are cars out there that get 30+ mpg daily driving. I have a 95 gt vert (v8) and get horrible gas mileage compared to an accord or elantra (my other 2 cars). Its hard for me to keep my foot out of the gas, so when i picked mine out, i wasnt going for the most "economical" or comfortable ride out there... If you have to have stang, then go for a newer v6, they are cheaper, get better gas mileage (obviously). That and insurance is higher on a 5.0 or 4.6. I had to have the "big guns" though, not for speed, but for sound and tourque. Hope this helps...
