Default E-Brake Question

I need to know how to wind the coil thing on the ebrake to make it work again. The front cable busted and the part that is suppost to act like a spring unwound. I'm told that I have to take the ebrake assembly out to wind it but I'm not sure how its suppost to look once its wound. This is a 94 gt and help or photos would be appreciated I havent replaced the cable yet.

According to my Chilton's book, if the adjuster reel unwinds "...the entire parking brake lever assembly will have to be removed in order to rewind the adjuster mechanism." But, of course, they don't explain how to rewind it. If you figure that out, though, there is a hole in the mechanism (above and to the right of the center point of the spring) on the passenger side of the assembly. Insert a drill bit or punch through that hole to prevent the spring loaded adjuster reel from unwinding until you re-install the cable to the reel and the equalizer (the plate at the back end of the front cable) to the rear cables.

Good luck...
