What is traction loc and how is it different from lsd? Does my 2001 GT has lsd or an open rear end? What gears does it have?

You have a limited slip rear end with 3.27 gears.If you only get one black mark when you burnout,the clutch pack needs replaced.

Hehe. You can say that again, I love hearing that! I get two nice black tire marks when taking off from toll plazas. 16k miles, mint car, nothing needs to be replaced.

What's traction lock? I read traction lock in user's manual, then I heard something about traction lock. Is that the same as LSD? I know, "SRS... wtf? a limited edition???", I'm a bit out dated with the technology here. I used to have everything basic, didn't even have ABS or variable steering on my last car.

I think that is just another name for"limited slip".If you look under limited slip in the owners manual it says to look under traction lock.Why they would do this is a mystery.HMMMM

I believe traction lok is Fords version of a somewhat posi but its more a limited slip. I think all stangs come with this. not sure on that one tho.

Yea, I heard something like that. My stang went sideways today with traction control on, in the wet, in 2nd. It felt real nice, manageable. So whatever is there is pretty good, I just want to find out what is traction lok and if it's a posi, so that I drive it accordingly.

im not 100% sure, but traction lok will spin both tires equally when going straight, but if your turning, just one wheel spins. i think its something like if the difference between the wheels spinning is 100 or more RPMs. getting that 1 wheel to spin when turning at a stop sign can be really easy, ill spin it and be like wtf i didnt even give it that much gas!

your 01 has traction lock. this is ford's posi. same thing, different brand. I think all 99-04 GT's came with traction-lok.

all Mustang V8's came with trac locs since 1986 or 87

You can easily tell if you have LSD/posi/whatever..

Raise the rear wheels off the ground and spin one wheel by hand. If the opposite wheel spins in the same direction you have posi.

How can you tell if your posi clutch is worn out? Have a buddy hold onto one wheel while you try & turn the other by hand. If you CAN'T spin the wheel by hand your diff clutches are probably fine.
