um remember this is a 17 year old on a budget so getting a new str is not really an option. I know this is a ford forum but any thoughts on a s-10 with a 350 conversion.

Isnt there one already with a 350 in it? Its called an SS S-10 i believe. Another thing, if your going to go with something like that then why not get an SS454 truck? They are great looking, functional full size and FAST! Hell if you dont like chevy trucks much then get an older Lightning with a 5.8L roller in it and have fun with that, if your a mod man then wait for 99 and get a superchaged 5.4L (I believe 99 was the first year of that engine change)

They are all used cars and can all be well priced and lots of fun but still cheap on insurance.

When I lived in Redding my insurance for my 95' V6 Stang was only 800 a year and when I moved to Sacramento I had to pay$2400 a year, a big big difference and I had 1 point on my record for speeding when I still had my permit. I have no points on my record now and they still want the same amount. Insurance really depends on where you live, probably more on where you live then points unless you have an excessive amount of points against you.

When I go to missouri my insurance is going to be about 800-1200 again for full coverage on my stang, but I sure as hell am not going to let them know that it has an 03 Mach1 engine in it now! LOL

My bad, the SS S-10 has a Vortex V6 engine in it, but still hella strong.
But as you can see from THIS LINK the 350 swap is popular. Im sure that little truck is hella fun

Ya I've research the s-10 swap a lot and probably going to go with the blazer (SUV s-10) so I can carry more people. The 454ss is a nice looking truck but to heavy and very expensive here 10,000 dollar range. I do like the looks of the s-10 series expessally the 1st generation but do not like the early lightnings they look ugly to me. But anyway I was just wondering what you guys thought about the swap. And I was just wondering about the mustang becuase I like the fact that its a car and not a truck or suv but they all can look bad *** with a little time and money.

Really its your choice, The stang has speed and looks but not much passenger room, the Blazer S10 has Room and looks but not much speed, and the 454SS and the Lightning are fast, look great but dont have passenger room and are costly.

I think the swap would be cool but you should see if you can get one like the one you mentioned that is already done. Just remember, your still hella young and you can aquire cars as the time goes by, I have my 70 Chevelle and my 95' Stang, I have had an 87 T-Bird and a 75 Elky, they just kinda come to you so get what you want right now and wait for the other things to come to you

I couldn't buy one with a v8 in it becuase of insurance and I want the experience of ripping down an engine and rebuilding it. When you do it yourself you know what is done and that everything is done right. Its just a lot more fun doing it yourself.
