Angry ABS Relay

The ABS light on my '03 cobra dash kept coming on/off. I took it into the local Ford dealership (where I bought the car 8 years ago), it took them two times to diagnose it ($125 cost already).

They finally came back and said that it was a Cobra-specific ABS Module/relay. They priced it at $1100 + $700 for labor/install.
Freaking $1800 for a module/relay!! WTH?!?

They told me that they have to get the new part and reprogram it with VIN-specific info. And, looking at the 'diagnosis' sheet they gave me, it doesn't even appear that they KNOW it will fix the problem.

Anyone know of another path to take for this?

Other Ford shops won't quote labor unless they get $$ to give their own diagnosis.

What a freakin racquet this all is.

ebay or local junk yard. save yourself hundreds. I doubt there is any VIN specific info they need to record. That only typcially applies to the ECU/ECM/PCM. Just google the ABS Module, you'll find tons of info on it.
