That is Tremec's site, all their transmissions are on there and are rated.

the TKO600s are the best transmissions out, by far. The T56 is okay, but 6th gear is useless unless you want a little better fuel economy or if you are planning on going 175 MPH

A few years back I had the same problem with my 86 GT. Luckily my father is a mechanic and he helped me rebuild the t-5 tranny. I recommend the World Class rebuild kit b/c it has better syncros. Along with the kit I had to replace the countershaft, 2nd + 3rd gear. Since you already have the tranny out replace the clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. If you take the tranny to a shop to fix, make sure they use the World class kit otherwise you will end up with the same problem again. Lastly installing a short throw shifter will better your chances for not missing a gear.

I have a t-5 bolted to a 408 stroker using a centerforce dual friction clutch. It has about 120,000 miles on it. should this hold up very long? Also for such a big engine I have been told to switch to an auto, but I like to drive a stick. The car isn't strickly for racing i also, like to cruise. I was thinking about switching to a t-56 when this one blows up. Would this be a good upgrade for a stick shift? Thanks for the info.
