I need some opinions. How soon can I remove the oil from my new Mustang and replace with Castrol synthetic. I know it used to be recomended to leave the oil in for 1500+ miles before changing to synthetic. However, all the info I find now says you do not need to wait anymore. Which is correct? Anybody?

My car just turned 2200, and I am planning on changing it before it hits 3000.

Probably going with RP and whatever filter I can find.

I decided that this was the final word in oil filters after reading this study (and others on bitog.com).

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...34&fpart=1

After receiving my Amsoil filters today I was surprised to see them shrink-wrapped!!! (see pic). Now after more research I see that the Fleetguard LF16002 has the same syn media (with a different media buzzword, "stratapore"?) so I'm looking into those also. I'd like to eventually extend my oci's out to 10-15k miles. I plan to send my 15k-20k mile oci to blackstone/dyson and every 5k after that with the different oils/filters until I settle on something.

Fram suck, NHRA and nascar use them for sponsor money. My Friend is a master tech and has seen Fram filters cause engine damage from pressure build up

Synthetics only in newer cars in unless you have a new motor put in that baby. I use Mobil 5000 and Mobil oil filter . If you have a oil pan gasket leak like me then 10w-30 is best it doesn't go down that fast . at first i used rotta shell oil 15w 40 since my dad uses it in his 79 el Camino with 200k plus miles but then i found out that 15w-40 what are you CRAZY! that will put allot of strain on your motor . I only like to use Sunoco, Mobil, or Hess gas, i find Citgo, Getty cheap gas with allot of dirt in it near my place .

After reading through 5 pages, I cheated and google- so my apologies if this has already been posted...

According to a thread on f150online.com, Motorcraft appears to be manf. by Purolator to Ford specs.

I realize that this thread is a bit old, but people still find it. I just read about a new oil filter comparison that Mustang owners might be interested in.

Anyways, I thought it was good.
