Good evening guys, my 2007 is making a humming noise which is coming from the rear. It makes it every time accelerate. If I start coasting the noise will stop. As soon I accelerate it will start again. A little background on the car, it has an 8.8 differential with 3.77 gears. The previous owner had been running the car without a friction modifier for a while. I am thinking maybe changing the gears will fix this. Have no clue though. Thank You for your help.

Maybe the gears wernt installed correctly? I would try to change the differential fluid before I changed the gears.

I forgot to mention the diff. fluid was changed recently including the friction modifier.

I've just installed new gears and now they whine a bit. A bit of asking around has me thinking of switching to Royal Purple Oil after the gears bed in, as many reports indicate this to solve the issue.

I would definitely be doing a high grade oil change before swapping the gears out.
