Hardwired Escort Passport 9500ix using V1 hardwire jack
As part of cleaning up the wiring for a GPS, Escort Passport 9500ix, and backup camera, today's focus was on the radar detector which has a long coiled cord.
I unplugged the power cord from the unit and plugged it into a detached hardwire jack from a Valentine 1. With a voltmeter on the V1 jack's cables, I determined the + and - was reversed. Recalling something similar on the V1, I checked the rj11 cord and saw the green and red on one side was reversed from the other. Since two reverses equals good-to-go, I hardwired the V1's outlet to a tap on a switched circuit, used the rj11 crossover cord, and plugged it into the Passport 9500ix. Done.
Earlier, I added a 12v outlet on the bolt near my left knee for the GPS, and another near the glove box for the backup camera, a Pyle PLCM32.

Baltimore County has KA running full-time in their cruisers and occassionally has an instant-on laser trap set up.
I was saved by my detector Friday night during my 4 block drive to daycare.
Maybe I should take the V1 off the Harley sidecar rig and mount it near the rear speakers and the remote display up front. I'll get arrows from that and GPS functions from the Escort.
