Default C4 reverse issue

for the first time in awhile i am stumped and resorting to the forum!!

i just finished swaping a built c4 into my 87 coupe and upon fireing it up i found i cant get reverse by shift linkage. it worked up on jackstands but not on the ground. i was thinking bands but heres what realy stumped me. if i activate the transbrake boom i have a perfect working reverse. any c4 experts out there? im guessing a stuck/lost check ball? any ideas? fwd gears work great and blazes the tires. its a fwd patern with a brake.

ugg very stumped now! but car back on stands and ran it. disconected the shifter linkage to throw out any other reasons. physicaly putting the tranny linkage one detent down into reverse the wheels move.. only problem.. they are moving fwd!! ahh!! i guess i didnt catch direction first time on stands. its just enough to turn the wheels when on the ground it wont actualy move fwd in reverse. it will still engage reverse upon hitting the transbrake while the tranny is in reverse. if the the tranny is in 1st the transbrake works and holds the car like it should. yea.. why me!? hahaha
