Help! Problems with CA smog test
Greetings MustangForums,
New member here. Glad to be here, some really great info on this site! I'm hoping/praying someone out there can help me out with my predicament.
First about my ride. 2005 Mustang GT, mineral grey. Modifications: K&N AirCharger CAI, Borla exhaust, 4.10s, ford racing sway bar, staggered torque-thrust wheels, SCT tuner with 91 octane tunes from BamaChips.
So heres the problem. In January I moved from Miami to San Francisco. As part of registering my car in CA I needed to get a smog test. When I took the car to a smog test place they were unable to keep the RPM/MPH steady enough to get a accurate reading, and thus I failed the test. Not because of smog issues, but because the throttle is too sensitive with the Bama tune and they couldn't complete the test. reverting back to the stock settings is not possible as my first SCT tuner was stolen I have only bolt on after market parts, and I'm pretty sure my car should pass the test. Unfortunately, my stock parts are across the country in storage, so getting those back won't be an option for a little while.
I was thinking about calling up BamaChips and seeing if they have a solution for me in the form of a custom tune designed for the smog test. But I'm open to other ideas! Lets hear some good ones!
Thank you!

I would try a diffrent shop too. Living in cali all my life I know how stick-up-the-*** some/most smog shops can be. Try another shop and let us know. A good shop should have no problem doing the test with or without a tune.
