COBRA... fix it up. Get the crap off it. You need to buy it just to save another mustang from Rice-tuner-crap'ola SAVE that COBRA!!!

The 94/95 Cobra will have a better long term value, but it's clear it hasn't been well maintained and is in need of work. Upside is the 94/95 Cobra will be the cheapest to fix up, down side is it's also the hardest to trouble shoot technical problems due to the fact it uses the POS OBD1 setup.

The 98 GT is a dog, I have a 97 GT I'm working on as a project (long story but got it for free), and these cars are relaiable, but slow as hell.

The 98 Cobra would be a good buy if it's in good condition. 4 V Cobras are not something you wanna buy as a project car, they're very, very expensive to rebuild.

I'd vote for the 94/95 Cobra as long as its running good.

98 Cobras are fairly rare - convertibles even more so

Overall 1998 Cobra Units Produced: 8654
Overall 1998 Cobra Coupe Units Produced: 5174
Overall 1998 Cobra Convertible Units Produced: 3480

At this age prices on these cars are going back up year after year

Well they can be. I am in the middle of rebuilding a 96 DOHC now for a 96 Cobra. The short block is no different in price to work on and you start with a forged crankshaft. The top end is where the money goes. There are more valves, more ports, more lash adjusters and more camshafts to deal with. I am sticking with the stock camshafts for now since they can be easily changed down the road. ka-Ching! I just saved $1250 on the rebuild ... then the porting fees got a big chunk of that back. DOH! On the upside, parts for these engines are fairly easy to come by.

In any case – cost is always relative. Do your research ahead of time.

I finished a v6 rebuild for my 95 ragtop a few years ago - talk about expensive. Everything for a v6 is more expensive than a v8. By the time I was done I could have rebuilt a 5.0 for the car and done the v8 swap thing. Oh well, it is still a lot of fun to drive with the top down.

+1 on the tail lights.
+20 on the Cobra, it is in a class all it's own. Plus the Cobra will appreciate more than the vert. They have made way too many verts these days, I do not think that they will appreciate anything like a Cobra will.
