1973 mustang 302 5.0 liter v8 timing chain cover issue?!
I have a 73 mustang 302 5.0 liter v8. I just
replaced the timing chain cover. On the
front of the cover there is a groove located
on the bottom of the plate where the water
pump bolts to. I put the new water pump
gasket on siliconed it and bolted everything back on. When I went to put the
antifreeze back in the radiator it poured out
of this groove between the timing chain
cover face plate and the water pump. Some
people said just silicone it but I believe
there is pressure behind the pump won't that just blow out the silicone? Why is this
grove there and how do I seal it so no
antifreeze runs out?
