Default Oil low, no engine light, damage assessment?

I swapped cars with my brother as I've been working on a huge dirt field, construction, on my 2nd job and he works right around the corner (he doesn't mind his truck getting dirty). I told him to change the oil, he said he did, I check it tonight and it's at the bottom of the stick. That means it's 2 quarts low at least? He has been driving the car for maybe a year, the oil was fine when he started out.

I'm putting 2 quarts in there come day light. Right now the car idles fine, AC is fine, drives fine (I drove it 10mins this morning and then checked it this night to find it was low). No engine light.

I should be fine, right?

I would slap that ignorant bastard in the face, and then not sweat it. If it's all smooth that means he didn't run it much like that so you're fine. Still slap him, though.

Definitely kicking and slapping. Thanks for the reassurance.
