Default loss of power 1999 ford mustang

When i first start the car it runs fine but after it gets warmed up the power just flies out the window im not sure what to do i have changed the fuel filter spark plugs put new air filter in. Im not to smart when it comes to cars so please give me detail info if possible. oh yeah when driving around with major power loss after the car hit 2500 rpms it seems to come back. im clueless on what to do.

Welcome. If you haven't found help in the tech section already, I've come across a couple things that may be causing your issue. Check your 02s, iasc if you got it, the egr and the port to the intake for carbon build up, possibly a catalytic converter issue. Id pull codes with a scan tool and go from there, if no codes is use the scan tool to moniter the items I mentioned before. As far as the specs I couldn't tell you. Hope this helps, just keep in mind its hard to do a diag without the car.

Could also be the electronic ignition system. Had this problem with my 72 Mach 1 after I had converted it over to an MSD system. The control box was overheating and thus power would go out in the car until the box cooled down enough.

That would point to one or more of the o2 sensors being bad. When the motor is cold and at wide open throttle the computer ignores the O2 sensors. So if your car starts working correctly during those times then I would check the O2 sensor. With this kind of perf problem, you probably have the check engine light on about a (false) rich condition.
