2000 Mustang squealing/loud noise near serpentine belt/pulleys
Hey guys.
New here to the forums. I have a 2000 mustang v6 3.8L and I am having some squealing noises near the serpentine belt and pulleys. I have already replaced my idler and belt tensioner pulley and also the belt itself. It sounds like its coming from the right side where the water pump, power steering pump and alternator is at. The alternator is only a couple months old so I wouldn't think that it is what is causing the noise. Any Ideas?
Thanks.

I can still hear the noise when I am driving. It doesn't effect the performance of the car but it's extremely annoying and sounds awful. I'm kind of leaning toward the power steering pump though. When changing wheel bearings and oil a couple nights ago i noticed the cap on the power steering fluid was somewhat loose and some fluid had leaked out. I'm not really sure what had happened. I did top it off however.

if it was really low you could have gotten air in your power steering system, you could try flushing it to make sure you got any debris out of the pump. take your fuel pump fuse out, then take your power steering pump return line off (low pressure) and crank your engine while turning the wheels left to right and filling the pump back up until new fluid comes out. put your fuel pump fuse back in, fire it up and see if it still makes the noise. make sure you use the trans fluid your pump calls for, mercon.don't hold your steering wheel against the stop point for more than three - four seconds. and don't let your reservoir go dry. if you get lost ask your part store for a print out, pretty standard procedure you might have to re-pressurize your system if you're a do it by the book type of person.
