Default How Much To Restore?

Hi, so I'm thinking about buying a 1965 Mustang V8 for $500. He was selling it for $1200 but lowered it for my situation. I would like to know ho much it would cost to fully restore this car and how long it would take.. Here are some photos.

Just mho but I think it would cost more to do any kind of a 'restoration' than it would be worth in the future.
You can go buy a V-8 Mustang like that one in this area for well under $10K........

I see a project there that would be at least $10K in new parts.
Even if you could do all the work yourself it would still be a losing deal.
I see at least $6K in just drvetrain....
$3500 for body/paint.
On and on..........

If you want a good restoration, you're looking at $20K for something that starts off like that. If you do it yourself, expect it to take a couple of years. I started off with a running and complete car for a project, and dumped more than that into it.

If you send it to a shop...you're looking at a final tally of AT LEAST $20,000. And that depends on certain methods they use, how much bodywork needs to be done, mods you want done, drivetrain parts, how close to original you want to stay, etc. There are guys selling half done resto projects in my area for $20,000 and losing money. It is not cheap, whether it be in time or money, to restore one of these cars.

Do yourself a favor...don't buy something you're going to sell down the road for less than you put into it. Buy an already restored one.
