Default car will not start below 50 degrees.

Hi I hope somebody can help here. My 1986 mustang has a hard time starting when it is below 50 degrees. I do have to get a new code reader so I do not know if that will help. Here is the problem when I put the key in the ignition and turn, sometimes it starts sometimes not. If I turn the key then push the clutch in then most times it will start as I push the clutch in. Everything that I can think of I have done. Battery and alternator checked\, battery checked, not loosing juice. new battery cables, new cable to starter, new starter, new solenoid, new ignition switch, new ignition, new cluch safety switch behind pedal, spliced new wires to the ignition switch, spliced new wire to solenoid, checked fuses. New spark plug wires the only thing I did not replace is the clutch saftey switch on top of the transmission because I cannot get at it without dropping the transmission. The car is a 5.0 fox body.Once the car is started and drove around town(meaning it is warm)the car will start more often than not. It seems a little moisture in the air also does not help. When I turn the key I hear nothing.

Usually an issue like this means you have a battery on its way out. The colder a battery gets then harder it has to work to start the car. So if the battery is weak already, when its cold it won’t start the car. If all you did was check the voltage on the battery then you didn’t do a complete test. You need to do a load test on the battery to simulate the conditions while starting the car. Most auto parts stores will do a load test for free (call ahead of course).
