Auto Transmission RPM shift question

Auto Transmission RPM shift question
This may seem like an insane question, but I'm perplex. I have a brand new 2014 Auto tranny V6 Mustang. With only 1700 miles on it, I changed out the stock Air Intake with an Airaid CAI. Prior to the change out, if I floored it from a dead stop, the auto transmission would shift between 5000 and 5500 RPM (2nd and 3rd gears). With the CAI, the car is now going all the way to 7000 before shifting. NOTE: I did NOT do a tune. Just added the CAI. And I know the shifts are computer controlled so I am perplex.
My theory, and I think I'm wrong, is that the engine is now getting more air (and loving it) so it is going all the way to the red line before shifting. To me that is a little crazy as the computer controls the shifts. So, my question: Can changing the air intake from stock to a CAI change the shift RPM point on an automatic V6? Again, I did NOT do a tune.
Thank you in advance for all courtesy extended by answering my crazy question.

Maybe try shifting in S mode and see if it will go all the way up to 7k, or at least just S mode without shifting (it will automatically shift in a different way if you just put it in S mode without initiating any shifts by you).
