Ok so i have a chance to pick up a good running 4.6 out of a cop car. what all gains would i get ... if any ... i can get the motor for $150. Please list any issues or if anyone has already done this let me know how it went for you.

never liked 4.6s, buddy had one and at 54k miles spun a rod bearing. i personally think they are a more pain in the *** then 5.0s. more electronics to them. They are a easier to tune though. On another note. I got the same mustang you have. same year and color! but mines soon to be flat black.

Youll make no gains. It not worth the head ache. Just get another 5.0

ok so you that is the answers i figured i would get. I have driven a couple of 4.6 cars but never owned one. GT ... where in Illinois are you located? Thanks for the help guys

The 4.6 out of a cop car was probably driven extremely hard when it wasnt just sitting idleing for an extended period of time. The only upside is most agencies have a excellent maintanence schedule.

My opinion is that your 5.0 will/does respond better to mods cheaper than the 4.6 does also.

Thanks. Yes stock tune for runs on motor. Nitrous runs i have to retard timing 10 degrees.
