Hey guys. I have a 1998 Mustang GT. I just replaced my factory rims which were 16 inch with 17 inch. It looks much better but still has quite a bit of room in the wheel Wells. I want to buy lowering Springs but was wondering if they will screw up my new tires? I have heard that lowering Springs can mess up alignment and chew up tires on the front. Please let me know. Thanks guys!

If you get an alignment after you put them on it shouldn't mess up your tires.

Do you have to get different shocks when lowering the car?

Im not sure about your body style, I know for mine the general consensus was if you're lowering it 1.5in or less you should be ok with the stock shocks and struts, more than that You are suppose to get aftermarket ones.

Depends on the drop but you will have to get caster camber plates. Learned that one the hard way..

You don't have to get new shocks, but it's the perfect opportunity to upgrade them (while you have the strut assembly out). If it's been a while since you've changed them, you might as well.

New/upgraded shocks are always good with a set of lowering springs to help with handling. If you only drop about an inch you can probably get it aligned without needing extra parts.

Just bring some caster camber plates like these to the alignment shop and you won't have any additional tire wear after you lower it.
