Default 2000 GT, new ft pads, only touching 1/2 rotor?

Put new pads on my daughters 2000 GT and noticed that only half of the rotor surface on each side was clean and the other half was rusting/oranging up as the pad doesn't seen to be touching on the whole surface? The other side the rotor on the passenger is completely clean so I know that side is operating correctly. Any ideas? Maybe the caliper piston is not pushing the pad completely against the rotor?

Sounds like a caliper hanging up as you said. Make sure the pads move equally to apply equal pressure.

OK, I'll take off the caliper, remove the pads, clean the pad slide areas and see if the piston will turn into it's bore and comes out with brake pressure. Thanks...Mark

Make sure to grease the contact points where the pad comes in contact with the slides on the caliper. Most people clean them but forget to grease them.

If you are working on front brake pads, they only need to be pushed in...not pushed and turned. Rears are push and turn.

Yes, I just did the rakes on my truck and I forgot to grease the contact points and they were getting hot.

Ok, will pull them apart and grease the slider area and see what happens, I know I didn't grease them but I will this time around. Thank you for your responses to my situation....once I complete the slide greasing and cleaning I post back on here...
