The motor should change speed as the dash switch tells it.

Have you replaced the dash switch?
Stupid question...what do you mean by 'free spinning'?

I don't think it's the dash switch. When the dash switch goes out isn't it common for the air flow to be stuck in one position (e.g. 1,2,3,4). My air flow completely stops when the car stops. The only air flow I get is when I'm going down the highway (50mph+).

The airflow you are getting when driving down the road is simply the air being forced from the outside.

By free spinning I mean the blower wheel just sits on the shaft without spinning when the motor is engaged, the wheel doesn't spin with the shaft. Or when you spin the wheel by hand the shaft doesn't turn.

And...if that is the only time you are getting air (while moving) then the motor is not turning on at all when installed. Dash switch... You've already replaced the resistor and checked your fuses. Dash switch or broken blower wheel are the only other two options I can think of.

I don't recall if the wheel & shaft were both spinning when I wired it to my battery. I'll check that shortly just to be sure!!!

Be back soon!

I looked at the blower motor and am not sure what you mean by shaft. The wheel and center piece are all one piece. Idk how to upload a pic to show you what I mean.

Ok, I broke down and took it to a shop. They ran a few tests and what not. They said I've got an electrical issue that's preventing power going to the blower motor. Obviously something I don't feel capable of doing. I'm sure they're gonna break me too! Anyways, thanks for all of your help guys!!!

Dash switch would prevent power from going to the blower...don't know what else though.

Check and see if the air flow is directed out of the defroster vents at the windshield. The clicking of the blend door indicates a bad actuator. When that fails, the ducting fails to the defrost position as set by Ford

Hey guys, I have been having the same problem with my '05 V6. I have tried a lot of the same approaches as csparks2007 to no avail. I have not tried replacing the dash switch yet, and was hoping to do so. The problem is that every time I search for the dash switch I just pull up chrome switch covers. Is there another name for this part? Thanks guys!
