Default What acts just like a bad wheel bearing but isen't?

2007 Mustang 4.0, 80,000 miles. Car had a groaning/humming from the front that at it worst could be felt in the floor boards. When loaded in a left hand turn the noise went away completely, when loaded in a right hand turn it got louder. Of course I though bad front wheel hub bearing. Two new front hub bearings later nothing has changed.
In experimented more I noticed that it does it in neutral some, but is loudest under engine braking. I think it goes away under power but it is hard to tell with the engine noise.
I was thinking tranny, but why does turning one direction or the other effect it so?
Anyone seen this or have thoughts?

Have you lifted the front end and spun the tires by hand, looking for movement / tight spots while slowly spinning the tire. Like you said, that's the symptoms of a wheel bearing going bad. Or the spindles are worn out. Did you replace the races with the bearings?

Default Hubs

I checked the movement of the hubs once I got the brakes off and they seemed ok, but I know then does not mean that they are for sure good. On this model they are sealed hub bearings, so there were no seperate races to replace, right?

I really don't know, I'm not familiar with the new stuff. But you could be right. Google it and you'll get a couple pic's if its an assembly.

One more thought, did you replace them with cheapo assemblies? I did that once on my daily driver Buick and went with the cheap replacements because this car has 220k. They had a slight howl from the start but got allitle quieter within a couple hundred miles.

The bearings are sealed and you cannot replace the races separately. Check the brake dust shields to make sure they are not contacting the rotors.
