Default Issue with '68 Power steering hose routing

Currently in semi Rage-mode, as the forums logged me out upon attempting to make a post here.

OK, SO. 68 Falcon. Engine is a 289, It's pretty much a Mustang inside the engine bay.

Power steering exploded, because PO ran the lines against the exhaust. Fire, bad, you know the story.

It's the Bendix System, so the hyrdallics are oh so smartly mounted on the steering system itself.

As it sits now, the New lines hit the exhaust when the wheels are straight, and attempt to kink if you turn it to the right. Original routing won't work, because of the sheer length of hose, including the metal lines. Not much flex to work with, and I don't want to go bending everything and having to buy new hoses.

Here's the view from the pump:

And looking down with the steering cranked to the left:

Any suggestions on how to route these hoses better?

Another question, is how the **** do you tighten the return line bolt on the unit itself? The wheel well stops you from putting a wrench on it in pretty much every single position.
