Default SHOCKINGLY BAD Gas Mileage In My New 2014 V6 Auto! WTF!!!

No mods. Stock 2.73 gears. Just picked this thing up from CarMax with 26,000 miles on it.

Even with relatively gentle driving, and shifting into neutral at stoplights, I am averaging about 11 MPG in the city! This is way less than the 19 MPG that many people claim to legitimately get. I've heard people talk about "losing a few MPG" when they are driving it rough, but never have I heard them talking about getting it as low as mine. Bear in mind I'm also putting premium gas into it.

For what it's worth I live in west LA around Beverly Hills/Westwood.

Correction: I should say that I have put Magnaflow Street Axlebacks on, but no other mods. Exhaust can't affect MPG that much, can it?

Yeah, something is wrong. I'd start by checking simple things. Does the car roll freely, on a very slight incline, will the car roll in neutral? While driving, do the brakes seem to hang? If so, check which rim is hotter than the others.

If those check out, then pull codes from your computer. It's dumping in more gas for a reason, bad O2's, or some other sensor/switch is bad, etc, etc. Some codes won't throw a CEL.

Yup, just go get codes drawn. I get 15MPG but I think its because I like to get on it

Are you just looking at the readout or calculating it by hand?

I'm looking at the readout. I have the premium package so I can constantly see the changing MPG levels. FWIW, it was delivered all the way from North Carolina and I looked at the average MPG level before I took it home and it was over 20. Does anybody else in the LA area get gas mileage levels as abysmal as this?

Wow that's about the same as I get on my Vortech blown 2013 GT. Unless you've got a major lead foot I'd want to get that checked out.

My readout reads real low in city and stop and go traffic, far below calculating it by hand.
LA traffic can be a b!tch, can't get good mileage parked on the freeway.
If I reset it driving on the freeway it'll read up to 40 mpg and settle to about 30 mpg.
Was this shipped or driven from NC? btw, did you reset the mpg readout?

It was shipped from NC and I reset the MPG calculator before I took it home. I don't drive on the freeway during rush hour, my driving is almost exclusively around the city. The majority of my driving involves getting up to 35 (or in some cases 25) and then stopping every 1/4-1/2 mile for a red light.

I'll try calculating it by hand. Still, I've never seen anyone talking about the readout displaying such a low number.

It can also be the fuel. Higher ethanol content will lower the MPGs. The pumps say "may contain UP TO 10% ethanol", not do contain 10%.

Try running ethanol free gas and see if the MPGs increase.
