Exclamation 2012 V6- Aftermarket Engine Mods

Hello all, I have a 2012 V6 stock mustang right now. This summer I am looking to buy an intake, throttle body, exhaust, Headers, and tuner. Now, Before I go out and spend this money I want to get other people's opinions on this. I want to make sure that it adds a significant amount of power. I am also looking to replace the rear end from the 2.73 it is too either a 3.31 or a 3.55. How bad does this kill the fuel economy but also how much does it help? I wouldn't be concerned with the fuel economy if it wasn't my daily commuter but I have to ask still.

the rear gear is going to make the biggest impact on how fast your car feels. you'll see a difference in highway fuel economy but I can't really predict how much. I will say that my 2010 GT with a 3.31:1 rear averaged about 22 mpg, and my 2012 with the 3.55:1 gear averages around 21. keep in mind that the cars had different engines.

I had a Mustang 2012 V6 with Headers, Airraid Intake and a Bama Tune.

I installed them in that order, the headers were the ones that I liked the best though the most expensive of the three. I can say those ones didn't affect the MPG, except for the fact that I started reving the car more often on every single light, but once you get used to that, you're good.

As for the Intake and the Tune, I have to say that the Bama Peformance Tune and the Racing One, are really cool and I could totally feel the diference but those ones affected the MPG of the car, so I usually had loaded the other tune they provide. And for the Intake, I do not know how I feel about it, I felt it was an expensive plastic tube with a Cone Filter, that sounds cool when you hit the gas pedal (the exhaust got a higher note tone, though).

As for the TB, I borrowed the BBK one from a Friend on a Dyno Day, and I saw no difference at all.

if I had to do the mods again, I guess I'd go with the Headers + Bama Tune + Gears

Thanks,
Gus

Great thank you for the responses! I heard the same thing about the intakes. I am not sure how i feel about it. I would like the sound but I would like gains. Thank you both for your input!

I made this video when I got the Bama Tune Installed in my car:

As I said, I like the sound of the intake, though I don't think I'd by a CAI again.

Thanks,
Gus

Gus_VB is it crazy raspy? And you have shorty or long tube headers? I am guessing shorty considering you didn't mention a new x pipe

BBK Long Tube Headers with Catted X-Pipe.

I do not really know how to describe the sound of the car, I can only say that I was not as low tone as V8, and it had some droning/rasping sound when you let off the gas pedal, though I wouldn't say it was "ricey" or bad, I had lots of people telling me that the car sound was nice, it was deep enough on idle, and really nice on WOT, I'd say that the worst range of the sound was in between 3000-4000 rpms

I also have another video when I got the headers installed

IMHO most exhaust mods for the v6 make it sound like an angry bumble bee. Even my Roush axle backs on my Coyote gets raspy at the high end.
