Default 99 Mustang hiccups while cruising. What is causing this?

My car is very drivable, but when ever i am in overdrive cruising it has a occasional hiccup. I had my fuel filter changed, that made it a whole lot better. The hiccup is still there, its worse when i am trying to climb a hill with low rpms in overdrive, If i am in 1st-3rd gear it wont do it at all . Any ideas on this?

I have a 99 ford mustang, 3.8L 6 cly. automatic

sounds like an ignition missfire, sometimes old plugs, wires and /or a faulty coil pack can cause a miss if engine load is high and you are in a high gear.

To add more to this, this morning i started my car from a cold start. It was jerking and skipping bad. When the engine heated up it stopped. I still felt it doing it occasionaly, but way better than when i first started it. And i have had to replace the coil pack 3 times in the last 5 months. The factory one failed, bought another one that one failed replaced it , then the replacement failed within 2 weeks, now i am on the third one its a duralast. I have had it for about 2 months.

i would try an OE coil, there may be some reliability issues with the duralast

Have you checked/replaced the spark plugs yet? Always start with the simplest and least expensive things...
