Default Under-dash Courtesy Lighting...HELP

So I just installed under-dash courtesy lighting using strip LED lights. I wired the lights the same as installing an illuminated sill plate, running the wires from the lights and tapping in to the dome light wires in the A-panel above the passenger side door. The lights work and turn on when the car is on and when the doors are open. Only issue is, the lights don't turn off. They are alway on, even when the car is off.... Any ideas on how to fix this??

This describes the general set-up I have.

Default

you tapped in to the constant hot wire, the lights are most likely ground side switched, you should also tap the ground into the correct switched ground for the lights
