Did the 01' GT come with a coolant level sensor???
I replaced my overflow reservoir a few weeks ago and there was no sensor or plug hooked up to the bottom. Checked all over the engine for any loose or hanging wires that would indicate it simply fell out and I can't find a thing.
The new overflow tank has the space for the sensor, but I have no sensor or wiring for it.
I called Ford and they said that in their computer, the 01' never even had a low coolant sensor.
My engine builder said I should have one and he never deleted it when he rebuilt my 302.
Do all of your 01's have sensors in the overflow tank?

first thing....your engine builder built a 302 for you, this has nothing to do with a 2001 gt with a 4.6
2nd if the ford dealer says they dont list a sensor, i would beileve them

It should be driving you nuts that your builder rebuilt a 302 for your car, that would concern me more than anything else at the moment.
Normally I'd just walk 15' to the garage and go look at mine n' let you know but my car's getting surgery right now. Some model years had the coolant level sensor in the overflow tank and others didn't, I can't tell you what model years one way or the other. But like said above, if no wires are dangling nearby and no warning lamp on the cluster is illuminated then I wouldn't worry about it.
For your new tank, unless it was supplied with a plug then just go hit up the bins at your local hardware store for a plug to thread in (good idea to take the tank with you so you can test fit) and be sure to wrap the threads with some teflon tape first.

I hope you misunderstood your engine builder because the 01 doesn't have a 302.

haha... I think I didn't explain my engine rebuild well enough in my quick post.
Obviously it was a 281 in my GT.. we bored it out to a 302/forged internals/cams/etc... to prep for a blower down the road.
Thank you guys. I called multiple other Ford dealerships and mustang shops and they all agreed that the 01' didn't come with the sensor.
