granted i know a lot of people use performance air intakes, but i just use the stock air box and filter, and i see the manual recommends every 30k miles, though mines got about 40k atm and the filter still seems pretty clean, so thinking i may do it every 50k or every 100k miles, cus i notice a lot of people just take there's out, and shake it a bit then put it back in lol.

im trying to keep up good maintenance cus i want to make the car last forever lol. planning to do transmission fluid change every 50k miles (mines automatic, i notice manual says 30k but i feel like it shouldn't need to be that soon, but since it is a sealed system i figure 50k is better than waiting for 100k)

also planning to do the fuel filter at 60k cus i did it back at 30k.

30K sounds like a lot, but if that is what the manual recommends....

The general recommendation regardless of vehicle is 12K. Most of my vehicles use K&N or equivelant cotton gauze/oiled filters. I clean and re-oil them typically every other oil change (10K) and also clean the MAF sensor. If you're bored, you don't need to run it the entire 30K - feel free to replace whenever, it won't hurt anything.

The 30k recommendation works pretty well for me, but I had a coworker that had to change his a LOT more often because of all the pollen in his area (which would qualify for the "severe duty schedule"). It sounds like your situation may be the opposite of this; if the air just happens to be rather clear in your area, your filter can certainly last longer.

Also, knocking all the bigger chunks of debris and dirt out of the filter doesn't really clean the filter. It's the really small particles that plug up a air filter and restrict airflow. Good luck with your decision.

An air filter is one thing I don't use a set mileage for. It really depends on where you drive . If you live on a dirt road and in farm country then probably more often is needed, if you live in an area that has paved everything and only drive around town you can probably stretch the length of time.

Just check it whenever you have the hood open and replace as needed. I always keep spare air filters around for my cars so I can replace them when I need.
