I hear most of the new Fords are equipped with Securilock anti theft system. They key supposedly has some kind of code that only your car can recognize, if the wrong key is inserted or if someone tries to hotwire your car it will shut the engine down. How reliable is this system. Are there easy ways car thieves can get around it?

Yeah keep in mind thieves will get what they want, unless they are stupid!! Also keep keep in mind that if you have an auto. and get a car starter that they have to bypass the factory security syatem in order for the car to start without the key!! If your that worried get aftermarket!!

To answer your question YES a thieve can and will always find a way around any6thing they bring out!On my mustang i have a viper setup and it has the little piezo siren back up battery proximity sensors glass sensors trunk and hood pins.So far i have been sucessful in keeping people from stealing it or from it.

The best thing you can have though in your alarm system is the proximity sensors. They warn people that are walking up to the car and start to go off even before they get a chance to break in.I have mine set to about 3 foot from the car so if you sneak up on it it starts to chirp and the closer you get it goes off more until you are up on it and by then its already going off full blast! So far its kept many people from doing harm or breaking in.But in parking lots and when animals are around it can get annoying but atleast you know its working and doing its job.Plus i never really have my car out unattended for much longer than a few minutes.

Just accept the fact that your car can be stolen despite all the alarm systems and protection methods out there. IMO, I wouldn't waste my money on any anti-theft systems, this is why I have car insurance. You should have a fuel pump shut-off button in your trunk, this would probably stump a car thief more than an alarm system.
