im gonna get some dynamat extreme and see how it works out, i get the stuff at wholesale, and plus i planned on doing the whole car anyway. I would have gone with the corsa but i just hate how small the tip is. it looks great from the back, but from the sides it looks like a little chrome cup at the end of the pipe. I should have this done within the end of the week, ill let you know how it goes.

Well i know this is and old topic but i just wanted to put in a little info i recently noticed. This past weekend i installed the C&L CAI and tune and what i noticed was that the drone that has been so prevalent at the 2k mark has seemed to subside a bit. I am not saying it is gone but it has defiantly been reduced.

ORIGINAL: drbobvs
... i went to a welding store and bought two welding blankets. I folded them real neatly and wrapped them around the mufflers
I'm gonna try that...

I don't understand why you guys say that a resonator won't cost horsepower.
Resonators don't cost you HP becasue they don't impede the flow of exhaust.

OEM type mufflers (well, the older style ones) and cats cost you HP because these things stick out into the flow area of the piping. They contain various metal bits that get in the way of the exhaust gases. Resonators are like a straight-through muffler. There is nothing sticking out into the exhaust stream, so they don't appreciably affect flow.

i get some drone in the borlas around 1800-2000 RPM's but its minimal. i can have conversations fine, make sure you have it installed properly, check the clamps and make sure you dont have a leak. Leaks can lead to severe drone

So with resonators... essentially you are putting 4 mufflers on your car? 2 in the middle, and one oneach end? I guess it works...

My real question is... if the Borla's (or FRPP) only drone at 1500 to 2000 rpms... why does anyone hear it? Who drives at that low of rpms? I get the best mileage in my car when i keep it in the 2500-3500 range... Would what little drone i hear be of major concern? I only hit 2000 rpms, while starting in first, and thats only for about 2 seconds until i am up to speed...

I had the Dynomax racing bullet mufflers installed right behind the h-pipe like CrazyAl stated earlier in this thread. I did this about a year ago. I do not have any drone. Also, I had the stock mufflers removed and
replaced with straight pipe and aftermarket exhaust tips. I am very happy with this setup and get many compliments on the sound.

Also, welcome back CrazyAl, it's been awhile since we heard from you.
