SO heres the story got my stange developement strut brace in the mail and was excited to see what it looked like... so right away took it out of the box and read the instuctions and the specs suggested a torque wrench..with a 25 ft/lb tightning..SO I grab the old torque wrench set it to 25 and start tighning! GOD darn FRIGGIN the bolt broke right off..will part of the bolt still in the housing! WHAT DO I DO?? humm I know I will take it to the dealer ship and get them to fix it! ...But how hard is it to replace the bolts? do I have to get them to take the wheel off and the spring? thanks and cheers ahh imm mad!!

You'll need to get someone with a good tap and die set to drill it out. If you were located near new orleans, I'd help you out.

Best performance shop I've ever been to is in Bossier City, a place called Racetech Performance. If that's too far, then there's a place in Kenner called 454 dyno. Also, there is a place called Gerhardt performance in both kenner and baton rouge that I've had good experiences with (kenner location), but I haven't been to them since I drove a 5.0

bossier is close, only about 1 3/4 hrs so that'll work great. i've seen a few rock shows up there just never really looked around a whole lot. hmm, my wife and i are going to stay at one of the casino's up there for our anniversay in 3 weeks, wonder if she'd be pissed if we stop by racetech... lol. anyways thanks for the tips man, they'll come in handy very soon!

I don't think you would need to drill and retap. The broken bolt should not have much holding it in. Get an "easy out" from a hardware store and it should come right out.

As far as South Louisiana tuners go I am not sure about Gerhardt's (now TNT in Baton Rouge), they have a lot of experience in most things but I don't think they have worked on the new Mustangs much. They are hell on wheels with a diesel though.

There is a new shop in Baton Rouge called Stang High Performance. They seem to be very good and very easy to deal with. Cody is the owner and he has just gotten his new dyno in and will have it all hooked up probably this week.

The bolt is part of the strut plate so you will need to have the strut plate replaced. Should run about 25 from ford and yes the front spring and strut will have to come out to replace it.

Yup. The strut needs to be pulled and the top plate either replaced or maybe a new stud tack welded on.

Heres what probably went wrong. Even the high end snap on torque wrenches are not 100 % accurate at their min and max scale ranges. This is very true at the low end.

So, one of my wrenches goes from 25-200 ft-lbs. Setting at 30 will never produce a proper torque setting. It will usually be higher even after a fresh calibration.

My rule of thumb is to always grab a smaller wrench with the lower scale, even if it means converting to inch-pounds.
