2002 Z28 vs 2005+ Mustang GT
Okay... before i get bitched out i just want to say i did a search forum to make sure there already isnt a topic on this already... and i couldnt find it (I might have did a ****ty search), but anyways haha..... Take a 2002 Camaro z28 STOCK vs a 2005+ Mustang GT Stock.. same driver and its a stick... Statistically who should win.. im sure it would be a DAM close battle dont ya think?? and also i know the SS are definetly faster... but we could keep up with it cant we? what are your inputs on both the z28's and the SS's? THX

Both good drivers, the GT would gett a length off the start but get passed by the z28 in 3rd gear. Prolly get 3-4 lengths in the 1/4.
GT has at 315 hp to the crank and weighs roughly ~3400 lbs.
z28 has(don't quote me) ~360 to the crank and weighs ~3553 lbs.

Im not too good with the Chevy specs....but didnt that Z28 put out around 310HP and run the quarter mile in about 13.9 seconds. That is pretty close to the 05 GT numbers. Although I dont like to compare a stock 5.7L vehicle to a stock 4.6... I think the Mustang would pull it off due to weight differences of the cars.
Anyone else wanna chime in on this one?

the s197 GTs are high 13 second cars, the fbodys are high 12/low 13 second cars regardless of the tranny, if hes got a shift kit in an auto then you are really screwed, get some 4.10/4.30 gears, a tune intake and exhaust and some UDPs on some DRs and it should atleast be a drivers race with you pulling out ahead

RE: 2002 Z28 vs 2005+ Mustang GT
The camaro is the faster car stock for stock all things held equal. The LS1 cars' horsepower were underrated from the factory. ~310 to the wheels is a big edge over our ~265 and more than makes up for any weight difference. With a perfect driver, late model camaros hit high low 13s- high 12s, our mustangs hit mid 13s.
As for Z28 vs. SS, they're essentially the same car performance-wise.
They are faster, but they also look like catfish :P
