NON INTERCOOLED WHIPPLE

NON INTERCOOLED WHIPPLE
After reading a bunch and making my decision on what I wanted, I made the mistake of reading more.
My goal is an easy install and 400 rwhp. This is for an 07daily driver with a manual trans. I wanted to keep it to 400 hp because I want a nice safe daily driver setup that wont be eating parts all the time. I know I am taking a chance but I think this is a super safe goal.
Here was my plan to achieve this.
FRPP Whipple non intercooled kit (self installed)
Custom Dyno Tune (VMP)
Cat-back exhaust
Aluminum driveshaft (I know it doesnt make power, but it uses less)
Would this equal 400 rwhp? pretty close. I wont cry if it is + or - 10 hp.
My other option is the FRPP HO kit, but I am just worried about the extra risk involved with this power level. I dont want to be burning up clutches, engines, rear ends etc. I dont need a car that breaks parts and spends more time being repaired than driven.
I dont beat on my car but I dont take it easy either. Would probably make 5 trips a year to the drag strip and would run drag radials or ET streets. I would be very happy with low 12 second passes.

RE: NON INTERCOOLED WHIPPLE
It seems to me that you know what you want.I think the Whipple 400 is a good choice for you, it can be upgraded at a later time if you feel you need more power.
The cat back willmake you car louder, but will do nothing for performance, so it is just a matter of prefference.
The tunes that come with the SC kit are safe and reliable, if you get a custom dyno tune you are likely to get a few more horses.
Good Luck

never, ever, read more after you've already made up
your mind!
i could have flipped a coin for the 6psi or 10psi whipple kit and
would have been very happy with either one. knowing what i know
now, i'm glad i went HO.
for anyone who cant't decide, i would say put all the differnet s/c's in a
hat and draw one..........you'll be smiling no matter what ya do.........

What do you know now? Could it be that the HO is crazy fast?

RE: NON INTERCOOLED WHIPPLE
You should be able to get close to your goal. I have the non-intercooled kit with 4.10s, longtubes, offroad h pipe, and custom dyno tune and my car puts down 404 and it is an automatic.

I'm having the same problem...I read too much. Now I have the $$$$ and like what i see in the HP and TQ outputs for ALL the SCs...however...how much can my steed handle. Well that was why I changed out the rotating assembly...and I STILL can't decide. Woe is me!!
I like the ProCharger set ups the best though I think.

Hmmmmm..... 2 questions.

Did you install the kit yourself? If so what did you think of the install? Have you had any problems? Are you happy with the performance?
hammeron
I would love the HO kit but am worried about the wear and tear on the car. I heavily modified my old 99 GT but the more I did the less it worked as a daily driver. That is why I wanted to stay conservative and leave as much stock as possible on this car.
Have you had any problems/part breakage on your car? What would you say is the minimum to add to make the HO kit as reliable as possible? If it is only the clutch I could deal with that.
I would say I have about 1-1.5 years till I have the money saved to do it, so maybe after this thread I wont read any of the other supercharger threads for 2 years.[:@]

Ya I installed it myself with the help from a friend using basic hand tools. The install was extremely easy and everything went smoothly. No problems. I am very happy with the performance. It isn't even the same car anymore.
