Synthetic Oil or Not?

RE: Synthetic Oil or Not?
I've had various sports/muscle cars over the years. Some I've used only synthetic, some only dino, and some started as dino and were switched to synthetic. Regardless of the obvious technical superiority of the synthetics and the long-winded white papers on the matter... the fact is that I don't have a single shred of evidence to support the use of synthetic made any difference whatsoever in the reliability or longevity of any of my cars. Therefore these days, I simply stick to the manual recommendation. I'm running the recommended Motorcraft 5W20 and a K&N filter on the Mustang currently...

Dino is fine. Do not get caught up in all the HYPE.

In addition, non-synthetics have additives that break down and increase the viscosity of your oil. Hence they need to be changed every 3-5k miles. In theory, synthetic oils are lab made and could actually last forever without breaking down. It is still a good idea to change your syntheticoil every 5-7.5k miles just to keep any impurities out of your engine.
Saying synthetic is all "HYPE" and has no intrinsic value is just ridiculous...particularly if you live in a colder climate where you have thicker oil going through a cold engine longer.

RE: Synthetic Oil or Not?
Mobil 1 full synthetic 5-30w and 10-30w have the same pour rate at -65F if anyone wants to know per stats on the internet under searches......synthetic oils,......etc. Amzoil is rated as a IV but does have a trace of Iron where Purple, Mobil don't per more stats on the internet.....if you care to search. I should have written down the 2 sites with this information as did take a while. I have been a user of full synthetic for many years on our vehicles and change every 10-12K as stats say synthetic does not BEGIN to break down until 12,000 using 10-30w. $50.00 synthetic oil change at quick change in town. Also, if you are using conventional type oil, stats say does NOT BEGIN to break down until 6,000 miles.
