I did both the CAI and the tuner at the same time and the seat of the pants difference was big. The tuner does so many different things to your driving experience. One of the very best is the accel lag is all but gone 
You can set your own rpm and speed limits and so much more. In my opinion the CAI and Tuner together is very good bang for the buck.
