Whats it gonna take to supercharge?
Ok im a n00b when it comes to Forced induction for the most part. Im looking to purchase one around May of 2008 assuming i can save the $$ by then . im looking at the vortech kit which is about 4300 IIRC from brenspeed. and also the Saleen kit from brenspeed. Now it seems like there are some disadvantages from what i read about the vortech with RPMs neede to generate the big power. Which is why im looking at the salleen kit from brenspeed. My question about that kit is, how much HP can i SAFLEY add to the stock motor parts without having to worry about blowing it to pieces. I like the Stage 3 option from brenspeed but im a little worried about making 500hp on the stock parts. If i go with either the stage 2 or stage 3 from saleen, what other parts should i consider besides better tires?

RE: Whats it gonna take to supercharge?
There are thousands of threads on this but I know the search function doesnt work so I will trot out the horse again.
Although trying using google with mustangforum.com as the domain.
General thought is that 450rwhp is the "safe" limit for stock engine. Take that with a grain of salt, you have to be willing for you engine to take a crap when you go forced induction.
The centri/twin crew (saleen) debate is rehashed twice a week and comes down to preference. Either you want your power at peak revs, centri, or everywhere, twin screw. Either way is fun.
Personally I am going with a Whipple HO and running an 8psi pulley which I guestimate would be about 420rwhp. I like this kit because it comes with an upgraded fuel pump and a nice intake MAF combo.
If you are worried about parts breakage I think the brenspeed stage 2 kit would be my max but I would add the GT-500 fuel pump while I was at it for safety at that boost level. That is not mandatory just my opinion. You will be happy either way.
Also just so you know I called 8 local shops in Orlando to ask about what they prefered Whipple or Saleen and 7 of 8 said to go whipple and I would be happier. Just something to think about.
Good Luck.

id like to have the power everywhere but thanks for the 450 number. the saleen from what i hear is a little less intrusive though on the stock parts? whats the price difference between a whipple kit and a saleen one? the big thing going with me on the vortech is the price. but it seems like the power is all over with the vortech. also witht he 420 hp would i need to worry about much else other then the basic supercharger items?

Vortechs are cheaper but most people are fans of the twinscrew on this site, and so am I.
Lethal sells the Whipple HO for $5800 but a group deal is in the works so the price should get better than that. Considering all the other stuff you get I think that is a deal. The GT-500 fuel pumps are like $700 by themselves.
I would say if you stuck to like 420rwhp all you would have to worry about is the clutch. Should last a while at that power level but will be living on borrowed time. Personally I plan on a Spec Stage 2 clutch and a steel flywheel.
Go read the post by Sevenleaf on his saleen experience. He had some problems but is still happy. Just a personal preference thing but I think the whipple looks better too.

well the stage 1 brenspeed sallen make 460 so that would out the 420hp number. the stage 2 is like 485. What does the whipple kit that your interested in make? id like to try and spend about 5k total on it including install.
