RE: aftermarket hoods
I wonder how well it actually brings cooler air in? I mean I know it wouldn't be as good as if it were a straight path, but would it be better than the cowl induction hood from Steeda or about the same? I bet it's so small of a difference that it really doesn't help much, but I'm curious anyway.

Well a cowl hood is just gonna put that air into your winsheild while some other hoods might get the air out more efficiently or use it for performance. There's gotta be a way to use all that excess air under the hood.

The boy racer hood from 3Dcarbon is pretty cool but expensive at $850. (it's at the bottom of the page)

Steeda has a very nice selection of Cowl hoods with varying heights. I understand they are also working on a shaker hood for 2005.
Classic Design Concepts allready has a functional shaker hood for the 2005 and they just released pricing for it at $795

RE: aftermarket hoods
From what I understand, and based on having my 05 GT up to 135mph, these cars buld a very large amount of air under the hood. Maybe the boxy front end and air coming up from under the car. It seems that changing a hood will not in itself alter this situation. Thus, most hoods with scoops, will actually vent the under hood pressure, fight with the pressure diferential, or if attached and sealed to the engine air intake system have a chance to work.
Of course, they look good, even if the benifit is small.

Woah, that rocks!!! Perfect addition to the 'stang, looks just like the original shakers. I'm guessing it's not functional since they still show the filter box in the stock location, but it sure looks good.
