how expensive is the valentine and is it really necessary to spend 300+? Wouldn't a $100 below work just as fine???

the valentine has a bunch of kool features like shooting a radar forward and backward to get a full 360 of where a cop may get you and it has indicator arrows showing you exactly where the cop is like to the right or left so you dont go rubbernecking and lastly has a power meter showing you how close the signal is so you know whether to worry about it or not

Go to this site and read this report
Radar Detector Test

You will find it quite useful. It is what I used to determin which one I was going to get. Which by the way, ended up not being the Escort or the Valentine. Why, because the PNI does the same amount of detection for $200 less. OK, sure, I don't have a compass in my detector, and I don't have arrows pointing the direction of the radar. How hard can that be to figure out.

Has anyone tried the Phaser Jammer.... Sounds like something every Mustang GT owner needs!

you think if i purchased one of those radar detectors/scanners that are "illegal" in california and drove around with it on, police would know and be able to pull me over and write a ticket for having that scrambler? i dont want to look like an idiot while i sit on the side of the road scrambling to take this radar detector thing off my windshield and throw it in my center consol while the police officer walks up to my car with his gun drawn ready to open fire on me because i look like i'm scrambling to get my weapon.

Jrodmaster...

THAT is why you install it behind your grill instead of on the windshild, then wire it to a switch to you can kill it when you need to.
